Hi. I know you've expressed some feelings before that you don't agree with a lot of the things the social justice bloggers say about racism and sexism and such. So I just need to tell somebody this because I'm so annoyed...I saw a post that pissed me off so much that I just want to respond but I know I can't because I'm white. I felt like you would understand. You don't need to respond to this or anything I just needed to get it off my chest before it like, exploded or something

Hello anon:

The problem is not social justice. It is selective justice. A truly “social” justice calls out oppression and wrong treatment toward anyone, regardless of their group, regardless of their history, regardless of “the system” etc.

I get really angry too, to be quite honest. A man who suffers an injustice because he is a man has suffered sexism, and I could care less whether someone gets peeved at how that term is used. As if. As if people can take over and possess a word to highlight their suffering only and exclude the suffering of others.

And the notion that white people cannot suffer racism is especially very offensive to me. I have seen white people treated with racism. Again, I could care less about anyone’s attempt to redefine these terms because of their agenda, their enlightenment, their paradigm shift.

Telling one of my white friends “oh, I’m sorry someone crapped on you for being white, but please don’t call it racism, because that word has been taken already to describe only the suffering that people endure at the hands of white people, at the hands of the “white system” simply seems agenda driven and arbitrary to me.

God bless and take care! Fr. Angel
